Kid-genuity At Its Best
I was so impressed when I watched a news broadcast on CBC (Canada) about the cardboard box arcade built by Caine Monroy, 9 years old, and from Los Angeles, California.
He took the time and put in the effort to build this arcade in his father’s used auto parts store to keep himself occupied during the summer months, while his Dad was busy with his own store.
The game I was most impressed with was the claw game he created using a box, a large ‘s’ hook and some string.
Although business at the arcade was non-existant at first, a flashmob of games enthusiasts instigated by fan and filmmaker Nirvan Mullick brought the arcade – and Caine – to the attention of the world last October.
Caine’s father initially had the video placed on the internet with the hope of raising some money for Caine’s education, but the video has gone viral and the fund total has surpassed $139,000.
