How Can Good Quality Hockey Happen When Everyone’s Too Busy Dealing With or Using Smack Talk and Nasty Tactics?
I watched Games #1, 2 and 3 of the playoff series between the Vancouver Canucks and The Los Angeles Kings and I’ve never been more disappointed.
In no way can anyone say either of these teams has played good, honest hockey. There’s just been too much bad-mouthing, nasty hits, embellishments and diving. One example tonight was the hit on Henrik Sedin by Brown, the LA Kings’ Captain. Not only was he not penalized, but he was allowed to continue to play and obtain the go-ahead goal in the third game. I can only hope that the hit against Henrik will be reviewed and a suspension assessed – but isn’t that too late to rectify the outcome of this game?
I’ve been disappointed in the quality of play by the Vancouver Canucks, but it bothers me immensely that the Vancouver fans seem to be placing the majority of the blame for the losses on Roberto Luongo’s shoulders. He is not responsible. No one can be expected to be effective in net when his defensive support just isn’t there.
I’d love to see a miracle happen and the Canucks win the next four games to win the series, but it’s definitely highly unlikely. I’m a true fan of the Vancouver Canucks and hope they’ll hold their heads up high regardless of the outcome and work towards a better result next year.
Go Canucks!!
