You can catch more frogs with marshmallows than with nets…

In about 1997, just after transferring to CFB Trenton, Ontario, we went to visit family in Havelock and stayed in a cabin (translation: shack) on our family waterfront (translation: swamp) property.

The kids adored the place and we all spent a lot of time fishing, boating, exploring and enjoying evening… Continue reading

Is positive self-esteem key to recovering from mental illness?

Two days ago,  I got ‘THE LETTER’ – the one from my employer, the federal Government of Canada, informing me that since my disability has now reached the two year mark, I must now make a tough decision.

Do I return to work?

or

Do I opt to take… Continue reading

Lightroom 5 Beta is the “Cat’s @$$”!

I recently downloaded Lightroom 5 Beta to try Lightroom for the very first time. Lately I’ve been experimenting more and more with my photos and I’m amazed at what can be done with Lightroom and select free presets.

Yesterday, I had fun researching free presets and spent last evening and… Continue reading

Our wild BC salmon need protection.

Here’s another notification I recently received from Change.org. This one is very near and dear to my heart because I live in British Columbia, Canada. America’s Worst Tattoos is an escape into hilarity.

I’m 53, a wife, mother of two young adults, and planning our retirement, and I’m amazed to say I have a new guilty pleasure – America’s Worst Tattoos.

Yet Another Experimental Photo of Mt. Cheam

This is only one of a few shots I got of a truly beautiful sunrise over Mt. Cheam this past week or so.

For this shot, I used the sharpen feature, cropped the image and finally used the ‘watercolor pencil’ filter.

I love the result. It has the feeling of a hand-colored sketch.

2013 Toronto Blue Jays: great expectations.

Ever since the big trades this past off-season, there’s been an inordinate amount of buzz about the prospects of the 2013 Toronto Blue Jays.

Can they do it again? Can they repeat the World Series wins of the 1992 and 1993 seasons with this new, highly touted roster of players?… Continue reading

Small things can have a huge impact, making a day good or bad.

For me this is very true.

First, I awoke to find when I stood on my scale, that I have lost more weight. After weeks of no progress, I have now lost a total of 48 pounds… Yea!

Previously I posted about the man who goes through our recycling each… Continue reading
