America’s Worst Tattoos is an escape into hilarity.

I’m 53, a wife, mother of two young adults, and planning our retirement, and I’m amazed to say I have a new guilty pleasure – America’s Worst Tattoos.

This show is pure escapism that allows us to see the human, imperfect side of others through their bad choices when… Continue reading

Taco Casserole: A delicious meal made with leftover taco ingredients.

Taco Casserole

This spur of the moment meal was such a hit with my family that I decided to post it here.

A couple of nights ago, we had tacos using the following ingredients:

  • tortillas
  • ground beef (prepared per taco spice package)
  • diced peppers
  • diced tomatoes
  • chopped onions
  • grated cheddar… Continue reading

Congrats to Stu on his new full time farm job.

Recently I posted about Erin’s new job that she loves. She’s working her ‘butt’ off  – long hours and split shifts – but she’s loving it because the hours suit her lifestyle exactly.

I just got a phone call from Stuart all excited telling me he got a permanent… Continue reading

Mamma Mia! Abba’s music spans the generations.

When ABBA was first starting out, do you think they would have expected that their music would become the phenomenon it did – especially in North America?

I was first exposed to ABBA by a family friend when I was about fourteen, and I was hooked.

Although some might consider… Continue reading

From jobless to Night Manager in three weeks.

I’ve been perplexed over the past couple of years about my daughter, Erin’s, bad luck with jobs.

First, she worked from fifteen for Triple O’s and was very good at her job, eventually being promoted to Shift Supervisor. After about a year she decided to quit because she had a… Continue reading

Dove attempts to make the beauty and film industry think twice about retouching ‘real beauty’.

I like this.

Just like the VAST majority of women in the world, I am one who is far from the idea of ‘ideal beauty’ promoted and fostered by this same industry. I have always been uncomfortable with the message it sends to our children and through the years tried… Continue reading

More experimentation with images of Mt. Cheam.

Stuart pointed out how pink Mt. Cheam was during sunset yesterday evening and I took a couple of shots. Everyone seems to be catching onto my obsession for that mountain.

Here are the shots, both original (left) and adjusted (right).

We’re lucky no one was hurt when Stuart crashed his car.

Unfortunately, Stuart lost control, did a 360 in his car on a curve on Chilliwack Lake Road, and crashed backwards into a telephone pole.

According to Stu, he started to skid on the gravel, paniced, his mind went blank, and he did the wrong thing trying to correct and get… Continue reading

You don’t know you’re beautiful!

That’s the message being passed on by a huge crowd of secondary school students who organized a flash mob to the One Direction song at a Vancouver Giants’ hockey game in honor of the anti-bullying message “Acceptance”. Several schools were involved and the Vancouver Giants’ hockey team and their management… Continue reading

Recipe for a Relaxing, Bright Christmas Morning…

This was a tough year.

I had to be ‘dragged’ kicking and screaming into this holiday season – and Erin seemed to be having just as much trouble with it as she works in a retail job where she deals with customers who aren’t always ‘smiles and sunshine’ when dealing… Continue reading
